The AEPSi Skills Matrix spotlights individual skills by showing functional application across all routines and activities. Each skills matrix (there are eight total, one for each of the test's eight developmental areas) allows you to quickly and easily locate routines and activities that address specific AEPS-3 Test items.

In each skills matrix, the letter B corresponds with the Beginning level (Volume 3), G corresponds with the Growing level (Volume 4), and R corresponds with the Ready level (Volume 5). Most test items are linked to curriculum content in multiple routines and activities, which supports flexibility and opportunities for embedded learning. Some items appear in more than one curriculum level because the emergence and growth of the skill occurs across a developmental span. As you plan teaching/intervention efforts, consider which level and which routines and activities offer content best suited to children's needs.

Some test items on the skills matrix, also have Foundation Steps (denoted by FS) that break a skill into discrete component skills. For children who have difficulty learning new skills at the level of individual AEPS-3 Test items, the Foundation Steps provide an even more granular breakdown of component subskills that are either a sequence of developmental precursors or steps in task analyses.

You can access the AEPS-3 Skills Matrix in www.aepsi3.com by selecting Curriculum from the left side bar navigation.
