There are a total of 407 items across 8 test areas in the new AEPS-3. That is less items then there are in the AEPS-2 across both Level I and Level II in the second edition. The AEPS-3 has more items at the upper and lower ends to provide an expanded difficulty range. There are also new items reflecting current expectations for young children. This new seamless birth to 6 assessment tool, has two new areas: Literacy and Math.
