When and why should I use the Ready-Set assessment?
AEPS-3 Ready-Set is new to this edition of the AEPS system. It is an assessment and progress monitoring tool that targets skills for school readiness and early school success. The measure consists of 40 AEPS-3 goals that represent all eight areas of the AEPS-3 Test, making Ready-Set shorter and faster to administer than the test. Ready-Set links to the AEPS-3 Test for children who need further assessment, and it also connects with the AEPS-3 Curriculum to support teaching/intervention efforts.
Ready-Set targets the widespread need in prekindergarten and kindergarten programs to help children develop core skills for success as they move forward in the educational system. Children need a range of social-emotional and preacademic skills to be successful in kindergarten and elementary school programs (Bassok & Latham, 2017; Miller & Goldsmith, 2017). Ready-Set helps teachers, interventionists, and other program staff identify children’s developmental status, target important goals, monitor children’s progress toward acquiring important social-emotional and preacademic skills.
Teachers may want to complete Ready-Set for all or most children in a classroom and then focus on completing the AEPS-3 Test for those children who have disabilities or are at risk for delays.
